On Tuesday, 6′-8″ post Derek Culver of Warren Harding (OH) announced his commitment to West Virginia.

Culver, a top 100 prospect in the 2017 class, is considered by some to be the top prospect in Ohio in his class. According to the Youngstown Vindicator, Culver also considered Kansas, Florida, and UConn, among other programs.

A double-double machine as a junior, Culver reportedly pumped in 16 points per game, and corralled 10 rebounds.

West Virginia brought in a sizable contingent of young big men in the 2016 recruiting cycle, but none are as touted as Culver. With the Mountaineers smarting from the departure of Devin Williams to professional basketball, there’s little doubt Culver can find a role as a freshman.

Culver joins in-state guard Brandon Knapper in the class to date for West Virginia.
