Top 75 incoming junior Tyler Herro pledges to Wisconsin

Greg Gard hasn’t been at the helm as the head coach at Wisconsin long, but he has still found time to make a strong impact on the recruiting trail. That trend continued Monday, as Wisconsin landed a pledge from a Top 75 national prospect in the 2018 class, shooting guard Tyler Herro of Whitnall (WI)

Herro has good size at 6′-4″, and had a tremendous spring and summer that saw his profile increase nationally. He’s the first commit for the Badgers in the 2018 class, and will hit campus on the heels of what is shaping up to be a very good ’17 class, which includes guards Brad Davison and Kobe King, and big man Nathan Reuvers, all of whom are considered consensus top 200 prospects (and above) in their respective class.

Simply put, Herro is wired to score and is an effective and efficient shooter. He has better than average ball skills and IQ and can use his size and skillset to slide to point guard or even wing forward if the circumstances dictate. With that in mind, Herro could find a starting slot for Wisconsin, sooner rather than later.
