After trimming his list in late August to Providence and UConnMakai Ashton-Langford came off the board and committed to the Huskies on Labor Day.

Ashton-Langford, a 6′-2″ point guard at the veritable basketball factory of Brewster Academy (NH), is the first member of UConn’s 2017 recruiting class and ranked as the No. 40 player nationally by Hoopniks.com.

One of the winningest point guards on the grassroots circuit in playing for the Mass Rivals, Ashton-Langford is a two way guard who impresses with his speed and savvy.

He’ll join a good crop of young guards at UConn, as Jalen Adams is an incoming sophomore and Alterique Gilbert is set to join the squad this year. All were top 100 players in their own respective classes.

UConn has had no shortage of quality guards in recent memory, and it appears as if Ashton-Langford will continue that trend in Storrs.
