6′-1″ point guard Ahmaad Rorie of Lincoln (WA) was one of only two remaining unsigned top-100 players in the 2014 class, that is, until Thursday. Rorie announced for the Oregon Ducks over two in-state programs, the Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars at his school.
Rorie was previously committed to Cal, before the retirement of former head coach Mike Montgomery. He becomes the second top-100 player in the class, alongside combo guard JaQuan Lyle of Indiana.
Rorie is a pure point guard whose teams have won more often than not. Given the roster turmoil at Oregon, he should receive a chance to play relatively early, given the mass exodus from the 2013-2014 team.
The 2014 Oregon squad looks to be highly guard oriented and Rorie and Lyle should each challenge to start alongside returnee Joseph Young in the backcourt.
