Texas adds riser Jericho Sims to youth movement

After a weekend official visit to Texas, Cristo Rey Jesuit (MN) post Jericho Sims verbally committed to Texas. Sims is considered a top 100 player by many sources, and picked the Longhorns over Minnesota (where his father played) and other high-majors.

At 6′-9″, Sims has plenty of room to add to his frame without losing the athleticism that has drawn attention to his game. He was recently offered by Kansas, but Texas was able to strike first and gain Sims’ pledge.

Sims joins in-state forward Royce Hamm in a solid duo committed to Texas at this point. Sims and Hamm could join a talented contingent in the paint with two top 50 prospects from the 2016 class when they hit campus in 2017, as Jarrett Allen and James Banks are current freshmen.

Head coach Shaka Smart’s contract was recently extended and it’s easy to see why as he continues to bring in top 100 talent and mold the roster into a group capable of playing the style he has pushed thus far in his career.
