Superb wing Ray Smith will Bear Down

It’s been a good news, bad news week for 6′-7″ Rekwon “Ray” Smith, a talented 2015 prospect from Las Vegas (NV). On the bad side, Smith tore his ACL at the adidas Unrivaled event in Chicago, but just days later, he committed to the Arizona Wildcats.

Smith previously narrowed his substantial list of suitors to nine programs in late June.

Smith joins Temecula Valley (CA) combo guard Justin Simon in the class for Arizona, and both are top-15 caliber talents. The Wildcats are also considered strongly in the mix for two other top-20 talents in the ’15 class, guards Isaiah Briscoe and Allonzo Trier. Given the high level of head coach Sean Miller’s recruiting in recent years, it’s no surprise that Arizona is so well-positioned thus far in the ’15 recruiting cycle.

A superbly versatile wing, Smith has arguably been among the quickest rising prospects in the 2015 class nationally over the course of the past year. He played really well in the adidas Uprising circuit for Las Vegas-based Dream Vision, and is considered an elite national prospect as a result. Smith will provide a versatile presence at the “3” at Arizona, and projects with tremendous upside given his development in the past year.
