Stanford snags ’17 wing Kezie Okpala

In news first reported by, Stanford secured a verbal commitment Sunday night from 6′-7″ wing Kezie Okpala of Esperanza (CA). Okpala is the first commitment to Stanford in the 2017 recruiting cycle.

Okpala is a long wing, who boasted eye-popping numbers as a junior in high school. He put up almost 24 points per game to go with 8 rebounds. Okpala was 6′-2″ as a sophomore, and has shot up to 6′-7″, so he may not be done growing.

As Okpala continues to grow and improve, he has reached top-100 status in the 2017 class, according to For Stanford head coach Jerod Haase, Okpala should add versatility and several dimensions to the Cardinal’s team.
