Minnesota landed a top-100 prospect at one of their absolute most areas of need on Sunday, scoring a commitment from 6′-1″ point guard Isaiah Washington of St. Raymond (NY)

Washington blew up in the Elite 24 game after a good summer and was quickly rising up the charts at the point guard position by most measurements.

Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino needs to grab some talent as he’s already being named on “hot seat” lists and obtaining Washington’s pledge will help in that regard. Assistant coach Kimani Young has heavy ties to New York City, where Washington is poised to have a tremendous senior season in the Catholic high school ranks.

As things develop, Washington has a legitimate shot to start as a sophomore. He doesn’t have ideal size, but checks the other boxes and has the savvy and swagger necessary to lead a Gophers squad which hasn’t performed to expectations in the Big Ten, as of late.
