A flurry of high-major commitments went down on Saturday, capped by the Virginia Cavaliers and Purdue Boilermakers each picking up an important pledge.
Virginia got on the board in the 2015 class with a commitment from 6′-9″ post Jarred Reuter of Brewster Academy (NH). It was a quick turnaround for Reuter, who last Sunday named the Iowa Hawkeyes, Providence Friars, Rhode Island Rams, South Carolina Gamecocks andVirginia Cavaliers as his finalists.
Reuter has a substantial frame and is a good passer with a solid skill level on the interior. He is a high-major prospect physically, and is by many reports a high-character player. As it currently stands, Virginia’s roster has many underclassmen on it, and Reuter could potentially be the only recruit that Virginia signs.
Purdue snagged a second player from the recent champions of the recent adidas Super 64, Indiana Elite. 6′-2″ guard Grant Weatherford announced his commitment to Purdue, where he’ll join fellow guard pledge Ryan Cline.
Weatherford was a key player for the strong Indiana Elite team this spring and summer. In adidas Uprising play, Weatherford scored 7.8 points per game, and maintained a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. He hails from a strong in-state program at Hamilton Heights (IN).
