Maryland Lands German Forward Martin Breunig
Maryland landed some help inside today, as they were able to grab a verbal commitment from 6′-9″ forward Martin Breunig, of St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy (WI). Breunig is a native of Germany that is spending his first season in the United States playing in prep school.
The Terrapins previously signed local star Nick Faust of City (MD) and a fundamental first point guard Sterling Gibbs in the early signing period. Breunig has largely flown under the radar, but is a member of the German junior national team. According to the Baltimore Sun, Breunig selected Maryland over Virginia, UAB, St. Louis, Maine, San Francisco and Green Bay.
Breunig reportedly made an official visit to College Park over Sunday and Monday prior to making his pledge.
