King-size center Udoka Azbuike is Kansas-bound

Imposing center Udoka Azbuike, a 6′-11″, 260 pound big man from Potter’s House (FL) has announced his college choice. The No. 32 prospect in the 2016 class, and without question one of the most physically dominant players nationally, has picked the Kansas Jayhawks. North Carolina and Florida State were also involved in Azbuike’s recruitment.

A native of Nigeria, Azbuike has a ceiling as a top 10 player nationally and for that reason is a very promising addition to the Kansas roster. He’s a near 7-footer with a 7′-5″ wingspan, and handles the paint with authority for stretches. While still coming along offensively, Azbuike consistently rebounds and puts a body on foes.

Azbuike joins fellow frontcourt prospect, Mitch Lightfoot, in the class for the Jayhawks to date. In keeping with recent Kansas tradition, it seems unlikely either Azbuike or Lightfoot will be slotted for heavy minutes as freshmen, and are more likely to be brought along slowly to develop.

With Azbuike off the board, only six top 100 players remain available. Of that group, Kansas is still in the hunt for No. 1, wing forward Josh Jackson.
