Iowa Starts 2012 With GA Big Man Kyle Meyer
Iowa started its 2012 recruiting efforts by landing a verbal commitment from 2012 C Kyle Meyer of Northview (GA). Meyer is an all-around big man that had other scholarship offers from East Carolina, Drake, Georgia State, Georgia Southern and Mercer, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Meyer averaged 16 points and 14 rebounds per game last season at Northview, after playing for the Atlanta Celtics on the grassroots basketball circuit. Steve Bombard, Meyer’s high school coach, was quoted as saying, “Aside from his (Meyer) ability to score from the inside, he can step out and shoot 3-pointers”.
The addition of Meyer to the future roster is certainly good news for Hawkeyes fans. They recently were disappointed by the decision of unsigned point guard Cezar Guerrero, who spurned Iowa for Oklahoma State.
