International Big Men Commit; Other Pledges

Basketball Recruiting

Some commitments that Hoopniks has tracked this week:

  • Two international big men came off the board.  Luka Zivkovic, a 6′-8″ power forward from Traders Point Christian (IN) by way of Serbia, committed to the rebuilding effort at Fordham.  Zivkovic is said to be good shooter and high-IQ player.  Additionally, Utah State secured the services of Igor Premasunac, a 6′-9″ center from Croatia currently at Lon Morris JC (TX).  Premasunac is a solid contributor at Lon Morris, going for 9 points and 5 rebounds per outing.
  • In an interesting story, Gwynn Park (MD) guard Brandon Ford had has heart set on attending Loyola (MD).  His father, on the other hand, had different plans for the 6′-3″ guard.  Eventually dad won out, and as Ford is now a Howard pledge.
  • Florida International added an outside threat in 6′-4″ shooting guard Tanner Wozniak.  He’s a 6′-5″ shooting guard averaging 32 points per game in small school competition at Keswick Christian (FL).  If the big men headed to the Golden Panthers develop, Wozniak should help keep defenses honest with his range.
  • Liberty has struck in 2012.  They took a commitment from 6′-2″ point guard Larry Taylor of North Port (FL).  Liberty apparently became enamored with Taylor at the City of Palms Classic this year.
