Florida State adds versatile forward Wyatt Wilkes for ’17

Just a day after gaining a verbal commitment from in-state wing Anthony Polite, Florida state added a fourth member to its 2017 recruiting class in the form of touted wing forward Wyatt Wilkes of Winter Park (FL).

Wilkes had previously announced his top five schools consisted of the ‘Noles, along with Butler, Creighton, Missouri, and Georgia Tech.

The addition of Wilkes to a class that previously included power forward RaiQuan Gray, the aforementioned Polite, and Sunrise Christian (KS) guard Bryan Trimble would seem to put Florida State at 15 scholarships for next season, which is 2 over NCAA limits. But with Dwayne Bacon potentially headed to the NBA and normal turnover, the ‘Noles should be just fine.

Wilkes demonstrated his versatility as a junior, averaging 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists per game. His ability and skill level could give Florida State a different dimension on the offense end of the court.
