7′-0″ junior center Stephen Zimmerman, currently ranked as the No. 3 player in his class nationally by Hoopniks.com, narrowed his list of college suitors to 8 on Wednesday.

According to Zimmerman’s Twitter account, he will consider the Kansas Jayhawks, North Carolina Tar Heels, Indiana Hoosiers, Louisville Cardinals, Kentucky Wildcats, UCLA Bruins, Arizona Wildcats and UNLV.

Zimmerman’s Bishop Gorman (NV) squad captured the Nevada state championship during the 2014 season, and he posted 15.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3 blocks per game for a loaded team.

He also recently decided to make the move to the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, where he will play for the Oakland Soldiers, alongside the No. 2 prospect nationally, Ivan Rabb. Zimmerman previously played for Dream Vision in the adidas program.

Zimmerman is a skilled big man that is mobile and can hit shots. He can play in both the high post and low post, and has a good feel for the game. Simply put, Zimmerman is an elite big man in a class that has an embarrassment of riches in that category. While there’s certainly plenty of time left to pursue Zimmerman, the 8 finalists for his services have to count themselves as fortunate at this stage.
