With less than a dozen letters of intent received by WAC colleges in the early signing period, one has to assume that the regular signing period will be a busy time for the staffs. Off the court, Boise State will join the Mountain West for next season, while Fresno State and Nevada will be playing one last basketball season in the WAC.
There isn’t much valuable information to be gleaned from the WAC’s early signing period results. Hawaii picked up two SoCal prospects that could be quality players at this level. Idaho looked for some quick help with two JUCO signees expected to be contributors.
The makeup of the WAC changes considerably in 2011-2012, as Texas State, Texas-San Antonio, and Denver join the conference as basketball participants. Clearly that isn’t much of a fair trade for Fresno State and Nevada, but the WAC is, for the time being, surviving.
