Derrick Millinghaus makes five for Ole Miss

At this time last year, it looked as if New York-native Derrick Millinghaus, a 5′-10″ point guard, was headed to Saint Bonaventure. After relocating from Schenectady (NY) to North Carolina, and first playing at Queen City Prep (NC) and then Believe Prep (NC), Millinghaus is now headed to Ole Miss, as the fifth member of the Rebels’ 2012 recruiting class.

Millinghaus will have the opportunity to develop before being thrown into the SEC fire, as the Rebels return an steady lead guard in Jarvis Summers. He’ll join Memphis guard Martavious Newby and JC transfer Marshall Henderson as new members of the Ole Miss backcourt, while Anthony Cortesia and Jason Carter will bolster the frontcourt.

According to the Oxford Eagle, Millinghaus has received some late interest from Miami, Georgia, Cincinnati and Wake Forest before his selection of Ole Miss. He’s expected to sign next week during the signing period.

While the JC transfers, Henderson and Carter are the most likely to be early contributors, Ole Miss also has a bevy of incoming freshmen that could be options down the road.
