The Creighton Blue Jays have worked to upgrade their roster since jumping into the Big East from the Missouri Valley Conference, and expanded their recruiting footprint. They made a significant step in that pursuit on Saturday, scoring a verbal commitment from 6′-4″ shooting guard Ty-Shon Alexander of Oak Hill Academy (VA), via North Carolina.

Alexander is a brash and competent scorer who is being schooled in perhaps the top basketball academy in the nation. He is no stranger to strong competition, though, as he has played grassroots basketball at the U-17 level since his freshman year of high school.

Creighton beat out a bevy of high-major opponents to land Alexander, and could have quite a crop of talented guards in the fray when he makes it to Omaha for the 2017-2018 season. Alexander is likely to be a consensus top 100 prospect in the 2017 class, making him a terrific addition to Creighton’s basketball program.
