The Oregon State Beavers landed the fourth member of their 2014 recruiting class on Wednesday, as 6′-7″ forward Cameron Oliver of Grant (CA) verbally committed. The commitment came on the heels of a weekend visit to campus, and was announced via Oliver’s twitter account.
Oliver is a much needed athletic addition to Oregon State’s class, which also includes legacy recruit Gary Payton II at point guard, shooting guard Chai Baker and center Isaiah Manderson.
With a calling card of being an athletic big man, Oliver rates as potentially under the radar, due to missing his junior season of high school with an ACL tear. His senior season went successfully, as Oliver picked up other Pac-12 offers to go with his tender from Oregon State.
Given the dearth of recruits left in the ’14 recruiting cycle, and the stagnation of the Oregon State program, Oliver is an extremely important addition. He hails from the Northern California area, in area in which Oregon State could certainly stand to become more prominent in on the recruiting trail.
