The Arizona Wildcats gained a fifth member of their 2014 recruiting class on Saturday, as 6′-11″ center Dusan Ristic of Sunrise Christian (KS) via Serbia announced his verbal commitment prior to a game.
Ristic has been in the country since January, and officially visited Arizona at the end of February. Since Ristic has only been in the country a short time he is not ranked nationally by any source, but conservatively rates as one of the better interior prospects in the class of 2014.
A known quantity for international basketball fans, Ristic played in the 2011 Jordan Brand Classic international game. He starred in the contest, scoring 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. NBA draft website Draft Express rates Ristic as a potential first round pick in the 2015 class.
Ristic joins an outstanding recruiting class in Tucson. Wing forward Stanley Johnson is a top-10 caliber player nationally and shooting guard Kadeem Allen is one of the top junior college scorers in the nation. Brawny power forward Craig Victor and cerebral lead guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright should each find roles.
Ristic was expected to pick the Wildcats, as no other program received much buzz in connection with him. Arizona had one of the nation’s elite recruiting classes prior to Ristic’s pledge, and his addition makes them all the better.
