Clemson adds fresh prospects for ’16 and ’17

The roster situation at Clemson became more clear over the course of the last 24 hours. The Tigers nabbed a verbal commitment for their frontcourt in the 2017 recruiting cycle in power forward Malik William of The First Academy (FL), and previously pledged shooting guard A.J. Oliver of Daniel (SC) decided to enroll early.

Both William and Oliver are top-100 caliber prospects and shore up the Clemson program going forward, as the Tigers are sure to shift the way they play after losing star Jaron Blossomgame to graduation after the end of the 2016-2017 season.

In Oliver, Clemson has a long sharpshooter who can really impact the roster as a freshman, with a jump on the team’s expectations after redshirting this year. Up front, William can likely play in either forward slot, and was coveted by plenty of other high-major programs, including reportedly garnering an offer from UConn.

Clemson only landed Scott Spencer in their 2016 recruiting cycle, but did secure promising transfers in Elijah Thomas and Marcquise Reed.

While the additions won’t vault Clemson to the head of the ACC, they do ensure the Tigers will continue to remain a scrappy contender to traditional conference powerhouses.
