Backcourt scorer Trent Frazier picks Illinois

Illinois continued its hot streak in the 2017 recruiting cycle, landing a verbal commitment from 6′-4″ guard Trent Frazier of Wellington (FL) after a visit to campus. Frazier is the third top-125 prospect committed to Illinois in the 2017 class, in what is currently ranked as a top-5 class nationally.

Blue chip center Jeremiah Tilmon is the centerpiece to the class, which is also very strong in the backcourt. In-state point guard Da’Monte Williams and wing Javon Pickett were also previously pledged. Frazier’s skillset should be quite complementary to Williams and Pickett in that he can play either guard slot, and specializes in scoring.

In fact, Frazier is considered by some to be one of the premier backcourt scorers in the country, in addition to his ability to handle the ball.

At the end of July, Frazier narrowed his list to eight programs. Other finalists to land Frazier included Rhode Island, Georgia, Seton Hall, Memphis, VCU, SMU, and Kansas State.
